To begin the new season with tradition, all the Pelham Little League teams marched through town during the annual parade on April 5. The baseball players, coaches and families stepped off near the Pelham Art Center on Fifth Avenue and marched together to Ingalls Field with the Pelham Memorial High School band and cheerleaders leading the way.

I liked it when we were walking along with the band,” said Chuck King, a family member of a player. “And my grandson, who’s five, this is his first baseball season, so that was part of what I liked. Watching him run in front of the band.

Another attendee said a highlight was “seeing all the smiley faces and all the beautiful kids and all the happiness.

Once at Ingalls Field, the teams were greeted by the PMHS varsity and junior varsity baseball teams. Everyone gathered around, chatted and ate donuts as kids ran about enjoying the celebration.

I’m thankful for being on a team with all my friends,” said Louise Tully, a player for Boston College.

It feels really good to be in the parade because I love playing baseball,” said another player.

After the celebration, teams lined up to take photos.
