The 8th annual Project Community Color Run took place on May 19. Around 600 people attended this year’s Color Run. Participants ran a 2.5-mile course and got sprayed with colored dust along the way, creating a fun-filled day for all. The route is the same every year, starting on Esplanade and ending at Siwanoy.

The Color Run is for all ages, with Anne Frost, founder and president of Project Community, saying “It brings grandparents, parents, and children together […] including little people in strollers. So, it was a wonderful family event.”

There were many things participants looked forward to at the Color Run. Many people said that they were looking forward to the blast of colors. Others said that they loved supporting Project Community and Pelham.

Participant Debbie Winston said, “We like to do this run every year. We love being hit with color, and it raises money for Project Community, which is great.”

Project Community programs deal with children with special needs and teens who are in a difficult age range for making challenging decisions.

Another runner, Anna Albarella said “I love running with my friends and in the end, getting hosed off with water.”

Frost said that Pelham was a good town to host the Color Run because “it’s a community in which everyone is very interested in helping others, especially children.”

The Color Run had 11 sponsors this year. They included Anna & Jack’s Treehouse, Sergio’s, Compass, Pelham Civic Association, Capital Realty, Vitarello Painting, Pop Stars, Charney, Fassforward, Sotheby’s and MBR.

At the end of the run, there was food for the participants.

“We have all kinds of vendors, then everyone, joins in. It all culminates in lots of chat and talk and food,” said Frost.
