Pelham, New York – Studio on the Avenue, the new cultural hub for performing arts, is thrilled to announce its grand opening celebration, which will take place on Juneteenth, Monday, June 19, from 10 am to 2 pm at 523 Fifth Avenue, Pelham, NY 10803. This event promises an enriching day of art, culture, and community engagement, underscoring the studio’s commitment to fostering artistic expression across diverse communities.
Owned by Chanell Smith Bradford, Roderick Bradford Jr, Katherine Rucker, and Khalid Rucker, Studio on the Avenue offers an expansive range of classes in creative arts, dance, acting, and film. The curriculum spans genres from Panamanian dance to hip hop, salsa, and bachata, with instructors who bring a rich heritage of West Indian and African cultures, some of whom have shared stages with icons like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
“We are excited to open our doors on such a significant day and look forward to becoming an integral part of the community by providing a space where everyone, regardless of age or background, can explore and develop their artistic talents,” said Chanell Smith Bradford.
The grand opening festivities will include free activities suitable for all ages such as face painting, a play space for children, a capoeira exhibition, trampoline fitness demonstrations, and sports activities for kids. Additionally, there will be live hair braiding sessions adding a cultural flair to the celebration.
Highlighting the event will be a live DJ setting the festive mood and a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony featuring Mayor Chance of Pelham, who will honor the occasion with his presence.
Studio on the Avenue’s mission is to inspire creativity and empower individuals to discover their fullest artistic potential. “Our studio is dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that not only teaches art but also builds a community where everyone is encouraged to grow creatively,” Roderick added.
